Airframe Fitter – Long-Term Contract (Up to 3 Years)
Location: Cambridge, CB5 8RX
Pay: 27.97 PAYE / 38.48 Umbrella
Contract: 12-month rolling (approx. 3 years of work)
Start Date: ASAP (later starts available)
Shift Pattern: 5-5-4, 07:00–18:00
Hours: ~40 hours per week + regular overtime
Morson Edge are recruiting for experienced Airframe Fitters to support a major, long-term aircraft maintenance and modification programme based in Cambridge.
This is a rare opportunity to secure stable, long-term contract work in a highly regarded Aerospace environment, offering consistent hours, regular overtime, and involvement in complex aircraft programmes over multiple years.
The Role:
Reporting to a Technician or Team Leader, you’ll carry out aircraft structural and mechanical maintenance activities in line with approved documentation, quality standards, and safety procedures. The work is varied, hands-on, and technically engaging, covering maintenance, modification, and repair tasks on large transport aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out aircraft maintenance, modification, and repair activities to approved work instructions
Remove and install aircraft components, parts, and panels
Perform structural repairs and mechanical maintenance tasks
Work in confined spaces, including fuel tanks where required
Assist with aircraft movement, jacking, and trestling activities
Interpret work cards, drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer data
Accurately complete aircraft documentation and time recording
Maintain high standards of tool control, documentation, and certification
Clean aircraft, components, parts, and tooling to support inspection and maintenance
Assist with testing of aircraft parts using gauges and instruments
Operate cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment safely
Order materials, parts, and equipment when required
Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks
Support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
Proven experience maintaining large transport aircraft
Experience with maintenance checks, structural repairs, component maintenance, and flight control rigging
C-130 experience advantageous but not essential
