RemoteTechnical Leadership & Strategy
- Act as the senior technical authority for electronics manufacturing processes, including PCBA, cable & harness assembly, electro-mechanical integration, and electronic components.
- Provide expert guidance on complex manufacturing challenges, high-risk parts, and critical supplier issues.
- Lead manufacturing strategy development for new programs, technology insertion, and supplier industrialization efforts.
- Review manufacturing processes, process changes, and deviations for assigned suppliers.
Supplier Engineering Oversight
- Lead supplier technical engagements, including capability development, capacity planning, and long-term manufacturing roadmaps.
- Drive supplier manufacturing readiness for NPI, rate increases, and program transitions.
- Serve as escalation point for critical supplier technical, quality, or delivery issues.
- Support sourcing decisions by leading deep-dive technical assessments and risk evaluations of suppliers.
Advanced Process Development & Validation
- Lead development, validation, and optimization of complex electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, selective soldering, conformal coating, potting, environmental testing, etc.).
- Approve APQP deliverables (PFMEA, control plans, process validation) and ensure robust risk mitigation.
- Champion advanced manufacturing techniques, automation, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment, and technologies for aerospace electronics manufacturing.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
- Provide technical leadership for complex non-conformance investigations, systemic quality escapes, and repeat defects.
- Ensure compliance to aerospace and electronics standards (AS9100, AS9102, IPC-A-610/620, J-STD-001) and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead supplier audits and manufacturing system assessments.
- Proactively identify manufacturing and supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of technical reviews, process audits, and engineering assessments.
- Present manufacturing status, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
- Support engineering change management and ensure suppliers implement changes effectively.
Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Master’s degree is preferred.
Knowledge Certification:
- Expert-level understanding of electronics manufacturing processes, including SMT, PCBA assembly, cable and harness manufacturing, electro-mechanical integration, and functional/environmental testing.
- Deep knowledge and practical application of aerospace and electronics standards, including AS9100, AS9102, IPC-A-610/620, J-STD-001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Proven experience leading supplier development initiatives, technical capability assessments, and manufacturing system audits.
- Advanced expertise in reliability engineering, DFMEA/PFMEA, process capability analysis, and end-to-end process validation.
- Strong working knowledge of APQP and PPAP methodologies, including ownership and approval of PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, MSAs, and Process Validation reports.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and resolve complex manufacturing and quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, RCCA, Six Sigma, DMAIC).
- Extensive hands-on experience with electronic testing, failure analysis, and advanced troubleshooting at component, board, and system levels.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies, with a track record of driving measurable improvements in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.
Experience: 7–12 years of progressive experience in electronics manufacturing engineering, preferably within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated, high-reliability industries.
