JOB SUMMARY
Serves as primary business manager for all Defense Systems Division (DSD) products and programs. Assists the General Manager in developing the organization’s overall strategic business development plan and directs and executes the spaneting of company products and/or services. Primary customer contact – serves as or manages the function of “key account manager”. In concert with the senior management team, develops overall spaneting strategy and tactics in order to capture targeted programs and achieve company business goals and objectives. Recommend changes in spaneting philosophy and policy when such changes serve the best interest of the organization. Continually evaluates the timely adjustment of spaneting strategies and plans to meet changing spanet and competitive conditions. Provides advice and guidance to the other functional departments to ensure overall product and spanet effectiveness. Works closely with Engineering to ensure practical application of technology to new products, and spanet development. Provides input to the IRAD and B&P budgets. Provides forecasts of new business contract awards for inclusion into the company’s financial plan. Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Supervises Business Development Managers, Sales & Marketing personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as primary spaneting interface with new customers and/or new programs with existing customers. Identifies new business opportunities and coordinates company activities, to include proposal preparation, to win these programs. Responsible for supporting the development of the strategic plan for the growth of the Company and for providing input for the technical implementation of this plan and other pertinent business plans.
- Supervises and coordinates the activity of the Business Development staff in support of the achievement of the company’s Critical Goals. Monitors department travel and activities/retains accountability for spaneting personnel.
- Directs the targeting and development of new business opportunities and customers.
- Assures that potential customers are fully apprised of the company’s technical and management capabilities.
- Oversees and coordinates the development of B&P and IR&D budgets and projects, together with the head of Engineering, and prepares the B&P plan.
- Directs the conducting of research, information gathering, and analysis and oversees the creation of spaneting strategies, sales projections, and profit estimates.
- Directs the development of tailored business / proposal strategies designed to maximize the company’s chances of securing the targeted program(s).
- Serves as the focal point for all new business proposal activities through proposal preparation and submittal.
- Participates in Bid/No-Bid decision process
- Suggests pricing strategy.
- Solicits Agreements (Teaming, etc.)
- Supports Negotiations.
- Maintains customer contact throughout the business/product cycle.
- Supervises and coordinates the development and production of sales literature and advertising.
- Uses and coordinates personnel from other departments (Engineering, Contracts, Operations and Pricing) to assist in company business development efforts.
- Directs the activities of outside spaneting consultants and representatives.
- Establishes annual budgets for the business development function.
- Regularly directs the preparation of reports of annual forecasts for inclusion in the company’s financial plan.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the General Manager.
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business preferred. Post-graduate business courses desirable. MBA preferred. Minimum 10 years’ experience in DoD spanetplace with prime or major subcontractor. 10 years CONUS/International spaneting with Program/Engineering background preferred.

- Pay Range: $156900 to $274550 annually
